Master Woo Myung Words of Truth – Enlightenment of Truth Comes Only When One Discards

People commonly talk about having had an “epiphany” or having been “enlightened” about something. However, enlightenment means that one has become what he has realized and it only comes along the way to Truth.

The Bible says that man was made to resemble God. This means God is the very Soul and Spirit of the Universe – Energy and Light itself. Man’s mind would be this Energy and Light if he did not have his individual mind of attachments. That man was made to “resemble” this existence means that one is the same as this existence, and to be the same is to be one.

It is to have no delusions within one’s self, and to no longer have a self thereby becoming this existence itself.

Enlightenment of Truth is to know Truth by becoming Truth. One comes to know Truth as much as the demons, delusions, inside him have been discarded, for exactly that much Truth enters in. This is enlightenment. Put in another way, when one discards his delusional conceptions and habits – his illusions – his consciousness expands towards Truth. Enlightenment is what one comes to know as his consciousness expands towards Truth.

God created the human mind to become one with God. When one does not have delusional images inside him, only Truth remains in his mind and his mind is clean. The more his mind expands, the more Truth is enlivened within him, what he realizes or comes to know at such times is enlightenment.

Man puts all sorts of different minds – everything he sees and hears – inside his mind while living in the world. Enlightenment does not come from putting something inside your mind. We have stuffed countless different things into our heads during our schooling and through religion, but enlightenment does not result from these actions. Only when one discards all of his conceptions and habits, can there be any enlightenment.
